I'm glad that Target keeps expanding it's food options. With more and more vegan options, Target is making shopping for vegan foods easier and easier. Target (around here) now offers a small selection of fresh items, but really excels in the frozen and prepared food sections making it fantastic for busy people or those who haven't quite mastered the art of cooking yet. I also find it to be a great place to stop for snacks or ready-to-eat food while traveling.
Tofu, Meat Analogs & Veggie Burgers
|
Tofu |
|
Gardein Vegan Meat |
Target has one of the best selections of Gardein. You can recreate childhood favorites by swapping the meat for these.
|
Target Simply Balanced Meatless Meat |
Target even has their own store brand of meatless meat with seasoning included.
|
Sweet Earth Veggie Burgers |
|
MorningStar Farms Roasted Garlic & Quinoa Burgers |
There are so many veggie burgers out now! Admittedly some are much better than others. If you don't like one, keep on trying. You should be able to find several you enjoy to keep it interesting. Really, it's all about how you dress up your veggie burger anyway. Try different toppings to keep it interesting.

Juices & Kombucha

Juices and Smoothies |
No blender required for these smoothies! They add extra flavor when added into homemade smoothies. Since ready made smoothie drinks like these are easy to find, they make great on-the-go snacks when you forgot to plan ahead.
|
GT's Kombucha & Synergy Drinks |
Drink your probiotics with these Kombucha drinks. No yogurt required.
Spreads - Vegan Butter! & Hummus
|
Earth Balance Original Natural Buttery Spread |

These individual hummus containers are great to take on the go or as a snack at school or work. Just add fresh veggies or pita chips.

Nut Butters |
With so many different nut butters available now, the old PB&J just got a lot more interesting. Don't forget that these make a great snack on fresh fruit (like sliced apples or banana), veggies (like celery sticks) and crackers. They can also be added in chilis, curries, sauces (like for stir-fry), or as a protein boost in smoothies!

Beans, Grains & Pastas
|
Canned Beans |
|
Dried Beans and Lentils |
Lentils can be used in many of the same foods as beans. My favorite ways to eat lentils are lentil soup and lentil salad (pair with fresh veggies and vinaigrette) See suggestions above for bean use.
Budget tip: If you soak (beans only - lentils do not require soaking) and cook these when you have some free time, you can freeze them in Ziploc bags or containers to have them on hand and ready to use like you would canned beans.

ReplyDeleteGood call! I will add that on to the list!
DeleteThank you so much :) guess I know where I'm goin
ReplyDeleteYay! Love this list - it was perfect in helping me plan!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to add another "thank you" to your post! I'm just starting out to find options for our little boy who just was told to have a dairy and soy allergy. Thanks for your research! Greatly appreciated. :))
ReplyDeleteI think Just Mayo was missed...that is also available at Target
ReplyDeleteI was feeling bad about my nephew turning began and not being able to participate in much of the foods people
ReplyDeleteWill be bringing for thanksgiving so I started looking around for options. Your site was so insightful! I can grab him a few items and totally include him in our meal!!! Thank you!!
Check out Pipcorn!!! It is vegan, non-mo, gluten free mini popcorn!!! They have just launched in a bunch of Target locations! www.pipsnacks.com
ReplyDeleteYou should check out Pipcorn!!! It is vegan, non-gmo, gluten free MINI POPCORN! They have just launched in Targets in the east :) www.pipsnacks.com
ReplyDeleteThis is exciting! I couldn't find anything on the web about Near East quinoa blends being vegan until this post. I wasn't sure about the "natural flavours."
ReplyDeleteI will have to look more closely at my local Target. Unfortunately I know mine doesn't carry close to the amount of variety of nut milks shown in these pictures, but right across the street is a huge grocery store so I can grab my cashew milk.
Thanks for this post. However, I believe Ghiradelli is not vegan. I think I've seen milk fat in their ingredients. On another note Target does carry a brand called Guittard, that is vegan.
ReplyDeleteYes! You are correct. Sadly, Ghirardelli no longer has vegan chocolate chips, as far as I know. The ones I used to get now have milk in them. Thanks for sharing an alternative.
